In line with its "Research University" vision and internationalization strategies, Sakarya University (SAU) hosted a distinguished guest from the United States. Marty Bennett, Director of International Recruitment and Engagement at The University of Akron (USA), visited our university to evaluate academic collaboration opportunities and strengthen global networks.
During the visit coordinated by the SAU International Office, Marty Bennett met with university officials and held comprehensive meetings with various units and faculties across the campus. The discussions thoroughly addressed potential initiatives, including the structuring of dual degree programs, joint research projects, faculty and student mobility, and the development of sustainable international partnerships between The University of Akron and Sakarya University.
Faculty of Business Visit
One of the first stops of the campus visit was the Faculty of Business. In the meeting held with the participation of the Faculty of Business management, faculty members, and International Office representatives, steps toward internationalization in the field of social sciences and mutual academic opportunities were discussed.
Faculty of Engineering Visit
During the meeting at the Faculty of Engineering, the discussions emphasized increasing scientific productivity, playing a more active role in international research networks, and connecting academic expertise with strong global partnerships. Concrete joint projects and student-faculty exchange programs in the field of engineering were brought to the table.
Center for Middle Eastern Studies (ORMER) Visit
As part of his campus itinerary, Marty Bennett also visited the Sakarya University Center for Middle Eastern Studies (ORMER). Meeting with the center's management, Bennett received detailed information regarding ORMER's regional studies, international research activities, and academic publishing opportunities.
