The History Of International Office

Founded in 1992, Sakarya University (SAU) is a leading public institution in Turkey. At SAU, we recognize higher education as a powerful tool for cooperation, contributing significantly to the global economy, culture, and knowledge base. Internationalization is central to our institutional policy, enhancing both education and research.

SAU actively participates in various EU programs, particularly the Erasmus+ program, emphasizing student and staff mobility, international curriculum development, and collaboration in European research and education projects. This commitment has made SAU one of Turkey’s top-performing universities in international exchange.

Our approach prioritizes equal access for all students, ensuring inclusive participation in international programs. With strong support systems, including the ESN Sakarya student network, we assist incoming and outgoing students in academic and cultural integration, while promoting staff mobility and professional exchange.

The university’s partnerships with industry, through collaborations with organizations such as the Sakarya Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SATSO), provide valuable placement opportunities for both local and international students. Our focus on innovation, such as the adoption of digital mobility tools like the European Student Card Initiative, ensures SAU remains at the forefront of international higher education.

Through sustained efforts, SAU supports the EU's agenda for modernization and internationalization in higher education, continuously expanding opportunities for students and staff in Turkey and beyond.
