Kick-off Meeting for the PURSUE Project Successfully Held in Tanzania

The Kick-off Meeting for the PURSUE Project (Promoting Sustainable, Affordable Housing Construction Technologies Using Environmentally Sound Locally Available Resources), co-funded by the Erasmus+ CBHE program, took place from February 17–21, 2025, at the Dar Es Salaam Institute of Technology (DIT) in Tanzania.

This strategic gathering convened esteemed representatives from partner institutions to establish a solid foundation for the project’s successful implementation. The meeting provided an invaluable platform for collaborative discussions, strategic planning, and the alignment of project objectives to ensure the seamless execution of planned activities.

Key Discussions and Agenda Highlights

Throughout the five-day meeting, participants engaged in in-depth discussions covering crucial aspects of the project, including:

  • Project objectives, deliverables, and expected impact
  • Roles and responsibilities of consortium partners
  • Effective management of project grants, budgeting, and funds allocation
  • Development of project branding, website, and digital presence
  • Curriculum and course development for sustainable housing technologies
  • Capacity building, laboratory enrichment, and quality assurance strategies
  • Dissemination, exploitation, and sustainability of project outcomes
  • Partnership agreement finalization and action plan for next steps

The meeting also featured stakeholder engagement sessions and a field excursion to Stone Town, Zanzibar, providing a unique opportunity for participants to gain first-hand insights into sustainable housing practices and local construction technologies.

Next Steps and Project Roadmap

Following this successful kick-off, the project is now moving into its implementation phase, where partner institutions will actively contribute to curriculum development, research activities, and dissemination efforts. A dedicated PURSUE project website will soon be launched, serving as a central hub for updates, resources, and knowledge-sharing among stakeholders.
