Visit summary

 

10.00-10.30: Rectorate Meeting

Based on the planned program, an introduction meeting was organized in the rectorate building and the team of both institutions introduced themselves and provided short overview about their institutions. Both parties discussed future plans on internationalization and highlighted the levitation each other. Meanwhile, the discussion was focused on activating the future cooperation between both institutions.

 

10.30-12.00: Visiting Faculty of Software Engineering and Informatics

The dean of the IT faculty (Prof. Dr. Numan ÇELEBİ) and considerable number of staff members attended the meeting with a fruitful discussion include the interests and the capabilities of both parties. The IT faculty introduced the laboratories facilities through the laboratories visit. The flowing list presents the potential future cooperation:

1. Hosting under and post graduate student for 1 to 2 semesters in both directions.
2. Exchange of Academic staff and students (short visits)
3. Providing Technical Assistance in (Software and Hardware) lab structure and participation in building the facility in Qaboos University,

1. Other IT practical areas such, Cyber security, using drones in social services, smart cities, images analysis and big data.
2. Co-Supervision of postgraduate students!!!!
3. Sabbatical leaves
4. Erasmus+ (KA1 allocated money and KA2 as an associated partner)
5. Joint publishing

 

It was recommended to create a taskforce working group from both universities to follow up the results in IT issues of this meeting.

13.30-14.30: Visiting Faculty of Political Science

The dean of the Political Science faculty, Prof. Dr. İrfan Haşlak, introduced the different programs with the participation of additional faculty members. The meeting discussed future cooperation and the potential of developing multidisciplinary post graduate programs.

 

14.30-15.30: Technopark Visit

The delegation of SQU was received by vice director of the Technopark, Dr. Adem Akbıyık. Dr. Adem introduced the Technopark facilities and main work and activities to strengthen the capacities of SAU graduates and the connections between the industrial institutions and university. The members of SQU were interested in the SAU experiences in this regrade and planned to make use of it. A potential exchange visit is planned next week with an expert from SQU visiting Türkiye.
