A Short-Term Educational Program Organized for University of Malaya Students at the Faculty of Theology

Sakarya University Hosts University of Malaya

A group of 21 students from the Department of Islamic Jurisprudence and its Principles at the Academy of Islamic Studies, University of Malaya, led by Lecturer Dr. Youcef Bensala, visited Sakarya University’s (SAÜ) Faculty of Theology to participate in a one-week educational program.

The opening of the program was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Theology, Prof. Dr. Hasan Meydan, Vice Deans Assoc. Prof. Dr. Muhammed Ali Bağır and Dr. Kübra Cevherli, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Bostancı, the Faculty Erasmus Coordinator Dr. Esra Akay Dağ, and several other faculty members.

Throughout the week, students participated in seminars delivered by the Faculty of Theology’s scholars, which included topics such as "Contemporary Islamic Jurisprudence in Turkey" (Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Numan Ünver), "The Methodology of Islamic Jurisprudence in Turkey" (Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Selman Baktı), "The History of the Hanafi School of Thought in Turkey" (Prof. Dr. Soner Duman), and "The Hanafi School of Thought in Contemporary Muamalat" (Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hamdi Çilingir).

From September 22 to 27, the visiting students engaged in various academic and cultural activities organized by the faculty. They also had the opportunity to explore the beauty of the campus and the city. During their stay, the students were received by Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Özer Köseoğlu, accompanied by Dr. Tuba Tatar, the Coordinator of the International Office.

Guided by Research Assistants Abdullah Arif Adalar, Muhammed Salih Aslan, and Muhammet Ali Acar, the students toured the Faculty of Theology and Sakarya University, as well as visited notable places such as the Sakarya Martyrs’ Memorial, Ormanya Nature Park, and Lake Sapanca.

The visit concluded with a closing ceremony where participation certificates were awarded to the visiting students.
